Letterbooks, 1724-1736/7; 1752-1764.

These four volumes of letterbooks were kept by Cuyler from 24 October 1724 to 3 March 1736/7 and 30 July 1752 to 5 December 1764. The letters were written from Albany, N.Y., and deal primarily with his mercantile interests. Some of them are in Dutch. Pricipal correspondents in the earlier volume are Richard Jeneway, Samuel Baker, John Cruger ( -1774), and Messrs. Storke & Gainsborough. The later volumes include much correspondence with his sons, Philip, Henry, Cornelius, and Abraham, and his son-in-law, Isaac Low, all of whom seem to have been associated with him in his foreign and domestic trading interests. There is also correspondence with Messrs. Henry & John Cruger, Messrs. Storke & Champion, William Baker, Joseph Mico, Richard Wibird, and John Ledyard. There are some references to the French & Indian War and occasional notations of supplies sent to the military forces.
